so, i am back at dordt, all moved in, and it is brilliant.
i think the weirdest thing about being back is seeing people again. After being with basically just my family the entire summer, I kind of feel like I'm on people overload. All of the sudden, people are no longer simply facebook pictures or random emails. it's wonderful!
i have cool roommates, which is good. they are crazy. and they like musicals. and singing along to the music. loudly. it's quite entertaining, actually.
and today everything starts up again. I have my first class in about an hour and twenty minutes (of course, its an 8 am), followed up by two more classes, a meeting for work study, auditions for the fall production.
all in all, I'm feeling pretty good about being here.
before I left for school, I re-read A Wrinkle In Time, which was favorite book growing up. I couldn't believe how much religious imagery and Biblical quotation there is involved in the story. All of the sudden it hit me that the entire premise for the book is a battle between darkness and light, simply on the cosmic scale.
What's more, Meg, the main character, is given her faults as a gift to fight against the darkness. I think this struck me the most because Madeline L'Engle has picked up on a huge Biblical truth. God doesn't use perfect people to accomplish his purpose. He uses ordinary people who are tempted, who sin, who struggle, and who get angry with God when they don't understand.
I found a new appreciation for the book. I think everyone should read it (*hint hint*).
I must finish getting ready for class now.

that book was also one of my favorites growing up. did you read any of her other ones? like the one about the flood? i think it's called many waters. that was my favorite.
you made me want to reread all of them again. :)
good book, as are the sequels. I think there are sequels. Also, why the heck were you up at 6:30?
*sidenote: that is two hours before I got off of work.
I freakin love Madeline L'Engle. I own quite a few- including A Wind in the Door. That's a good one too.
