last night i read a book - a whole 600 page book - almost as if it was harry potter i was reading. but it wasn't - it was called twilight and it was about vampires instead of wizards. a bunch of girls who i work with begged me to read it. i did. sort of mindless reading. the writing isn't as good as rowlings. but the story does suck you in a bit. but entertaining enough. apparently its a series, so i think i've found my reading for the next couple days.
i kind of enjoy the mindless reading. often, i'm too tired to read anything deep or intellectual when i'm here at camp. my brain shuts off and yells "sleep!" loudly. i usually comply.
camp is going well. it is now week 4 - we are halfway through a summer of campers. i've been here for 8 weeks. there are only 32 more days of camp left.
this session of CHIPS is good. i didn't like them much at first - no focus, don't really care about bible study, etc. they are hard workers, though, and a lot of fun. this group calls me "mama" - which in some ways seems fitting. i laugh every time they do. they still struggle with formal bible study - but they ask a lot of awesome questions at random times. that is rather encouraging. the frustrating thing about this group is there are huge age and maturity gaps. trying to figure out how to relate to all is difficult.
pictures to come....and probably a video or two.
i also thought you should know that i used harry potter today in bible study with the CHIPS as an illustration of love.

Guess what entire book I read yesterday?
Spooky?
I've started the second one... am now about halfway, and I'm not nearly as much into the story. Though it's just starting to pick up, and has the promise to end pretty good.
