...try to fix what you've done...

i sometimes get frustrated with people who do not want to wrestle or struggle with their faith.
then i remember that i constantly wish the answers to life would just fall out of the sky in a nice, neat outline.

i haven't seen much of the sun in the last three days - we've gotten a lot of the hurricane rain. there are flood warnings everywhere. the weather is now chilly, but dry. its simply beautiful - everything is a brilliant green but it feels like autumn. its good bike-riding weather.

speaking of bikes. i bought a vintage red schwin. it's beautiful. and fun to ride.

i went to my teaching church where i will be interning for the next year this past sunday. it was delightful. the pastor is a single woman who is kind and gentle. the people were so welcoming. many people came right up and introduced themselves.

my favorite person so far is a 94 year old woman. she came up to me and gave me a hug. the conversation proceeded something like this:

"do you like cats or dogs?"
"um. i have a cat, so yes."
"well, i have this dog. it's little and playful. i need kids to play with it but all my grandkids live far away. i went to the doctor to ask if i could adopt. they said i was too old. then i asked if i could pregnant. they told me i was too old for that too. i just need a kid to play with this dog. i should look for one in my neighborhood."
"um...okay..."
"don't worry, hun. you'll get used to me."

delightful.

i had cheese broccoli soup for supper. it was warm and comforting.
