most this amazing

i am slightly amazed that right now i am in the place i've longed to be at for the last few months. and while i am basking in the comfort of home, i find myself missing holland and the family i have made there. it is interesting how the heart works.

we've gone two and a half rounds in the food department. the half is found in the drink dad made called "death by chocolate" - chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, half-and-half, and chocolate schnaps. tasty. empanada's will serve as the next course. then homemade apple pie.

we played trivial pursuit this afternoon. as predicted, mom won - she is a wealth of useless knowledge. i honestly don't know why we play, since she always wins. next up is apples to apples. but in between we are watching lotr: the return of the king - its sort of a non-official tradition to watch these movies over the holidays.

tomorrow will be consumed with decorating the house in christmas. and perhaps a soup and bread bowl at panera.

i tried to ponder all the things i am thankful for today. i also started to ponder the "what ifs" of my life. i'm not sure what conclusions i can make.
