...just surviving was a noble fight...

This morning I woke up to a blanket of white.

As I stepped outside, bundled in hat and gloves and boots, quiet surrounded me. Cars and footsteps muffled by the flakes which continued to sprinkle down onto my shoulders. It was beautiful.

Today is a day of feasting. My peer group took a couple hours out of a busy finals week to engage in breakfast together and the library staff will do so at lunch time. They are two gifts during a busy week.

Finals week. Filled with papers and busyness and a profound lack of motivation. At times it seems the week will never end while an hour later it seems to be moving too fast for me to grab a hold of. An odd mix of feelings.

I look forward to things, which helps move me through the week. Homemade wine in the sun room with my family. Coffee dates with those I don't see enough. Ringing in the new year with dear friends. Traveling to Mexico.

I've begun listening to Billy Joel. I think I recommend him. But Paul Simon still holds me heart.
