my little munchkins

My task: to keep the kids away from the barbecue.

My strategy: show them the photo/video option on my laptop.

The outcome: success!

Charlotte (4) and Ben (6) are in the movie. This is my favorite one. Although the one of Ben singing the Star Wars theme is pretty spectacular. The picture is of Piper (2). She's pretty awesome. Actually, they all are. And playing with them is welcome break from office work and sermon prep.

Today was warm and full of sunshine. I read outside while the kids ran around the yard screaming and shooting each other with water guns. They even had the kiddie pool out. The girls and I jumped on the trampoline for a while (complete with high flying airplanes and good old crack-the-egg).

Mike (host dad) and I also pulled out and washed the deck furniture so we could eat supper outside. Since Kim (host mom) was working today, Mike was in charge of dinner. He landed on grilled steak, green salad, grilled prawns with garlic butter sauce, steamed broccoli, and jalapeno bread, topped off with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a great meal. After the kids went to bed and I returned from praise team rehearsal, the three of us sat on the porch, ate homemade blueberry pie with ice cream, drank coffee, and watched the sunset over the ocean.

A great day.
