camp makes me yawn

it is tiring to be here. i feel old because around 10:30 / 11:00 pm, i'm ready to crash into bed. this, however, does not often happen. the last several nights, its been well after midnight when my head finally reaches my pillow.

tomorrow is the last day of the first session of CHIPS. for a picture of them go here and look through the camp album. i added some more pictures of other things that are of the camp variety.

since tomorrow is the last day for the CHIPS, tonight will be another late night. we'll hang out after all the campers have gone to bed. we'll have a fire and make s'mores (real ones - camp uses cookies covered in chocolate and marshmallows - just not the same), probably watch some of the 6 hours of footage that one of the girls took with her video camera, and laugh a lot. They are a good bunch of high schoolers - crazy, loud, and ridiculous (they like to act like pirates and speak in semi-british accents) but asking indepth questions and wanting to know more. i've really enjoyed getting to know them, even when i wanted to kill them.

today, though, i must pull double duty and counsel for discovery, which is the third graders who come for the first time overnight. the real counselor (a volunteer) couldn't do it today, so i have to take over. it's kind of frustrating because i have things i'm actually supposed to be doing (cleaning mostly) and i can't.

but, the weekend is almost here, and even though i'm not allowed to leave camp, there won't be children here and i can relax a bit.
