we wanted to build a sand castle. so we ate to build up our strength for the challenge.
Brett began by building the foundation.
the cracks were filled in with more sand.
only the best sand could be used. it underwent careful inspect before being brought to the building site.
onto the second level. we had to be really careful now because our sand was drying quickly and we didn't want to compromise the foundation.
the second level was almost complete. jeff could barely contain his excitment.
the top level was almost complete.
the finished pyramid. with a moat that wouldn't hold water.
the little boy in the background was enthralled with our endeavors. he watched the entire process with awe, but hid his face anytime we tried to talk to him. he also copied jeff's every move. later, i played sailboat with him in the lake while his parents swam out deeper. his name is logan.
